The West Bengal Dairy & Poultry Development Corporation Ltd., popularly known as 'DAIRPOUL', a wholly owned undertaking of the Department of Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal was incorporated on 4th February, 1969 under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. The initial task assigned to "DAIRPOUL" was to implement the Jalpaiguri - Siliguri milk supply scheme w.e.f. 10.11.1970. Rising to the occasion, "DAIRPOUL" did set up a number of milk collection centers and chilling plants in the hill areas of district and turned the scheme into total success. At that point of time, the concept of balanced animal feed had already gained ground and it dawned upon the Government that it could hardly wait any longer to disseminate the concept among the farmers of the State. "DAIRPOUL" was an automatic choice to be assigned the task and thus the focus of activity shifted from Dairy to Animal Feed. The Jalpaiguri - Siliguri Milk Scheme was handed over to the Himalayan Milk Producer’s Union Ltd. (HIMUL) and "DAIRPOUL" took up the challenge to propagate the concept of balanced Animal Feed amongst the livestock farmers of the State. The urge to imbibe the concept of balanced animal feed was two fold. One was to ensure enhancement of production of milk, meat, eggs, other animal products and fish through use of high quality feed,  the most important  input of livestock farming and  the  other  was  to   improve the lot of livestock farmers, by providing them with high quality feed that ensures higher yield from and better health and quick breeding of the animals and birds they rear. The seed sown twenty nine years back has grown into a big tree. Driven by the zeal to perform and  achieve,  the  highly  dedicated  work  force  of  "DAIRPOUL" did successfully  translate  the dream of the Government into reality. 

The  basic  tenet  on  which "DAIRPOUL" thrives is the quality of product. The efficaciousness  of 'EPIC' brand feed lends credence to this claim. From procurement of raw materials to their  conversion   into  feed,  quality  is  assured  at  every  stage.
